A celebration marking survival

Posted on 03 November 2010

Survival was the reason for celebrating.

The Celebration of Live “In the Pink” community awareness luncheon and fashion show honored those who battled breast cancer and won, and remembered those who had breast cancer, but lost their battle.

Belk had lined up the models and outfitted them with stylish clothes.

The J.O. Smith Building was decorated in pink, the color of breast cancer awareness.

A light lunch was served, ample door prizes were given out and bids were taken on a silent auction.

Proceeds from the luncheon benefits the Breast Cancer Support Group of Decatur County.

Rosalyn Florence was in attendance for her friend, Deloris Reynolds.

“I think it’s a blessing that survivors are here and celebrating,” Florence said.
